2015 CX-5 Earns 5 Star Safety Rating | Webster, TX

Check out the CX-5's Award-Winning Safety Features!

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the 2015 Mazda CX-5 the highest 5 Star Overall Safety Rating.  The CX-5 earned the 5 Star Safety Rating in the front and side crash tests and then earned 4 stars in the rollover crash test.  These ratings apply to both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions of the 2015 CX-5.

While the CX-5 has not been rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, it was named an IIHS Top Safety Pick and earned “good” scores in all crash tests, including the small overlap front crash test which was designed to replicate what happens when the front corner of the vehicle collides with another vehicle or another major obstacle.

With just a quick glance at the array of safety features on the 2015 Mazda CX-5, drivers can easily see why it earned a 5 Star Safety Rating.  The available Blind Spot Mointoring1 system can alert drivers when it detects a vehicle or obstacle in the adjacent lane, and it will then alert drivers to let them know it’s not safe to change lanes.  If road conditions become adverse, Dynamic Stability Control2 and the Traction Control System help the driver maintain control over the vehicle.

Other features can help to alert drivers and even increase the chances of preventing a collision.  Smart City Brake Support3, another available feature, can apply the brakes if it detects that a collision with a vehicle or obstacle ahead is unavoidable, and when driving between 2 and 18 MPH, this feature can help to minimize or even prevent frontal collisions.  When reversing, the available Rear Cross Traffic Alert4 will alert drivers if another vehicle approaches from the side, and an available rearview camera5 works to help drivers see objects behind the car. For even more visibility, an available Adaptive Front-lighting System can turn the headlight beams, by analyzing the vehicle’s speed and steering angle, to increase visibility around turns in the road.

In the event of a collision, the 2015 Mazda CX-5 has even more features to help keep drivers and passengers safe.  The advanced front air bags6 include sensors that monitor seat belt-use, passenger weight, and the driver’s seat-position.  Passengers are offered additional protection with front side-impact air bags and side-impact air curtains7
